General Information
The TVD-10B turboprop engine was developed in 1978 as an improved version of the TVD-10. It is a twin-shaft turboprop engine with an output of 960 horsepower. The engine is designed for installation on light transport and passenger aircraft.

Design Features
The compressor consists of six axial stages followed by one centrifugal stage. The annular combustion chamber is fitted with a swirl-type fuel nozzle and two spark plugs.

The turbine section includes a two-stage, uncooled compressor turbine and a single-stage free turbine. Through a high-speed gearbox, an intermediate shaft, and a planetary gearbox, the free turbine drives a variable-pitch, feathering propeller.

Propeller
The engine is equipped with a reversible, feathering, variable-pitch propeller. Three-bladed aluminum propellers of the AV-25B or AV-24AN types are used, with a diameter of 2.8 m and a weight of 95.4 kg. The propeller operates at a rotational speed of 1,745 rpm.

Engine Start
Engine start is fully automatic and is performed using an electric starter.

Production and Operation
Serial production of the TVD-10B engine was established in Poland at the PZL Rzeszów and PZL Kalisz plants under Soviet license. Production began in 1984.
The engine is installed on An-28 aircraft operated in Russia and other countries.
