All the helicopters were acquired by the Ukrainian Army Air Force during the period of hostilities during the Albanian uprising in Tetovo in 2001. Ten combat helicopters were purchased from the Ukrainian Air Force (8 helicopters of the Mi-24V type and 2 helicopters of the Mi-24K type, be an reconnaissance helicopter with a surveillance system, a digital reconnaissance and correction complex and two aerial cameras: one in starboard side of the cockpit and and one in a special container under the fuselage). All helicopters are part of the 201st Anti-Tank Helicopter Squadron.

The Mi-24V is a modified helicopter developed on the basis of the Mi-24D, with the Shturm-V ATGM system (ATGM - AntiTank Guided Missile). Attack helicopter Mi-24V and Mi-24D entered service on March 29, 1976. From 1976 to 1986, more than 1000 helicopters were built. Since 1978, helicopters began to enter service with the Warsaw Pact countries.
