VTOL - vertical take-off and landing
V/STOL - A vertical and/or short take-off and landing
The "Yakovlev" design office at one point proposed its own design for a 5th generation fighter aircraft. His proposal was for a single-engine aircraft, with a triangular wing, tailless and at front canards.

| Another 5th generation light fighter design. As published in a book by Yefim Gordon entitled "Russian Experimental Fighters of New Generation MFI and S-37", published by Polygon 2001. The aircraft was intended to be fitted with a thrust-deflection variable nozzle propulsion system and an RD-33 lift engine, specially modified for nose mounting in front of the cockpit. The design of the new "Yak-XX or Yak-201" included almost all the features of a stealth technology aircraft. |
