Mi-25 - export modification
The two-seater helicopter army combat-transport helicopter is designed and built according to a single-rotor scheme with five-bladed and three-bladed tail rotors. The helicopter is equipped with two TV3-117 turboshaft engines with a power of 2.200 hp. each.
The helicopter was created on the basis of the Mi-24D with a modified composition of on-board equipment and was intended for countries that are not part of the Warsaw Pact.
The helicopter has been operated in countries such as: Algeria, India, Iraq, Afghanistan, Angola, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Cuba, Libya, North Korea, Vietnam, Syria, Nicaragua, Peru and Yemen.
In 1985, the Pakistan Army captured two Mi-25 helicopters of the Indian Air Force. The helicopters were handed over to the Pakistan Air Force for a thorough study of the equipment of the helicopter and its performance characteristics. Another incident occurred in 1987. when the Chadian armed forces captured three Libyan Air Force Mi-25 helicopters, one of which was handed over to the US Army.
