Intermediate option of the Mi-24D. It was equipped with new-generation "ShtormV" supersonic anti-tank missiles and an ASP-17E automatic targeting system, a variant of the system carried by the Su-17 bomber.

The Mi-24V and D helicopter entered service on March 29, 1976.

Their production continued until 1986. More than 1,000 Mi-24 V were built. From the end of 1978, modernized Mi-24V and D began to equip the Warsaw Pact countries.
