V/STOL - Vertical / Short Take-off and Landing
Single-seat vertical take-off and landing deck attack aircraft with one R-27V-300 lift-and-flight engine TRD R-27V-300 thrust 6.100 kgf and two lift engines TRD RD-36-35FVR thrust 3050 kgf each. The first flight took place on September 22, 1970. Serial production at the Saratov aircraft plant was started on August 11, 1977. A total of 231 Yak-38 units of all modifications were produced.
