V/STOL -Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing
Experimental VSTOL aircraft
Single-seat, jet, carrier-based vertical takeoff and landing attack aircraft with two R-27-300 turbojet engines of 5000 kgf thrust each. The prototype made its first flight in 1964. A total of 4 prototypes were built (one for strength test, the second s/n 37 for testing take off and landing. When testing the third prototype with s/n 38 crashed and was not restored, and the fourth prototype Yak-36 s/n 36 (exhibit at the Air Force Museum in Monino).
