The MiG-25RBV was developed based on the MiG-25RB. The aircraft was identical to the "RB" variant with the only difference being that instead of the SPS-4A/B station, the "SPS-9 or known as Virazh-1" electronic reconnaissance equipment was installed. To distinguish the version, all aircraft equipped with the “SPS-9” type station they were renamed MiG-25RBV.

The MiG-25RBV was mass produced in 1973-1979.
