The turboshaft engine with a free turbine TV2-117(A) is designed for installation on Mi-8 helicopters of various modifications. 
It is a turboshaft engine that produces 1.500 horsepower. The turboshaft engine consists of the following main units and systems: a 10-stage axial compressor, an annular combustion chamber with eight nozzle heads, a two-stage axial compressor turbine, a two-stage axial free turbine, an exhaust device and a main drive for transmitting torque from the rotor shaft of the engine's free turbine to the helicopter's main gearbox.
