These helicopters were recently ordered and acquired in the period 2009-2010 by the Ministry of Interior of FYROM (two Mi- 17V-5 and two type Mi-171) which were included in the fleet of the Ministry of Interior. They carry out mainly missions on behalf of the Police, but at the same time can be used on behalf of the FYROM Air Force. Mi-17V-5 is a modification of the Mi-8МТ helicopter. This version provides the capability of transporting up to 36 soldiers, with a maximum take off weight of 13.000 kg up to 750 km. Inside the cabin it can carry 4 tons of payload or, optionally, 4.0 tons on an external hook.

The Mi-17V-5 is equipped with the latest electronic systems and can easily navigate and operate at high altitudes and extreme temperatures, which establishes it as one of the best helicopters worldwide in its category.
