The Tu-2T was a three-seat naval torpedo bomber based on the Tu-2 and powered by two ASh-82FN radial engines producing 1,850 hp each.
Two versions of the aircraft were developed. The first, designated Tu-2T, could carry one or two 45-36AN torpedoes weighing 966 kg each. Flight testing began in 1945.
The second version was a longer-range variant with identical armament but an increased fuel capacity of 1.020 liters, extending its operational range to 3.800 kilometers. Its maiden flight took place on August 2, 1946, with test pilots F. F. Opadchy and V. P. Marunov. This variant was developed specifically for service with the Soviet Navy.
