An Army attack/transport helicopter powered by two TV3-117 2,200-hp engines. The helicopter had been under series production during 1970-1989 at the Arsenyev and Rostov-on-Don plants.
A total of over 3,000 helicopters have been manufactured, of which about 600 were exported to over 30 nations.
The main versions are the Mi-24D and Mi-25 armed with the Falanga-P ATGM system and YakB-12.7 machinegun

Mi-24P and Mi-35P armed with the GSh-30K cannon
Mi-24VP-a version armed with the GSh-23 cannon
Mi-24K reconnaissance/fire controller helicopter
Mi-24R radiation/chemical reconnaissance helicopter
Mi-24VM and Mi-35M upgraded helicopters fitted with the Mi-28 rotor system and sophisticated avionics. In the year 2000, upgrade of the Mi-24V and Mi-24P was launched to enable them fly combat operation round the clock (the Mi-24VK version, etc.).
