VTOL: Vertical Take-off and Landing (Aircraft)
Yak-38U (MU) carrier-based vertical take-off and landing training aircraft developed based on the Yak-38M with one R-27V-300 lift engine with a thrust of 6100 kgf and two lift engines RD-36-35FVR with a thrust of 3.050 kgf each. The first flight of the prototype took place in 1972. A total of 34 aircraft were produced, of which 8 were lost.
