Tu-214R, OKR "Frakciya-4" , "object 411" - integrated optico-radio reconnaissance /intelligence aircraft. The production of the the new aircraft was assigned to Kazan JSC KAPO.

The project was about the development of 2 prototypes and a production model within the frame of "Fraction-4" program, which was started at 2002 by the Russian defense ministry.

The contract was for the delivery of 2 Tu-214R type aircrafts by the end of 2008, but for some reason it was delayed until 2009.

The second aircraft is at the assembly line, with the SLAR radar still pending installation. It's about a tonne heavier than Tu-214 and the max take-off weight being about 111.000 kg.

The fuselage is divided into three main sections:
First section: System operators
Section section: common usage
Third section: radio-electronic equipment department.

The radio-electronic equipment includes systems as:
Multiple frequencies radar system RTK-MRK-411
Electro-optical station "Fraction", with a very high resolution, developed by TPK "Linkos". This system is placed under the aircraft. It provides real-time data streaming of the regions selected, in various scales and records the data to storage equipment.

"Fraction" provides:
Administration, and process of external signals with target definition.
High resolution images both in visible and infrared spectrum.
Information displaying on the multi-function monitors.
Digital video data recording in real time.
Display of info streams to the operator in a clear concise way.
