The Su-35 is a singleseat super-agile multirole fighter powered by two AL-31FP 12,500-kgf thrust vector-controlled (TVC) engines. 

The first AL-31F-powered Su-35 prototype (Su-27M) flight took place on 28 June, 1988. In 1996, the first several Su-35s were fielded with the Russian Air Force. In 1996, one of the Su-35 prototypes (side number 711) was fitted with thrustvectored engines for the very first time. 

Its maiden flight in its new capacity was made on 2 April, 1996. Su-35’s derivative is the Su-35UB twin-seat super-agile multirole fighter whose prototype first flew on 7 August, 2000.
