The MiG-31K is a twin-engine, two-seat supersonic strike fighter with in-flight refueling system. The strike fighter was created on the basis of the upgraded MiG-31DZ fighter, specifically for transporting the Kh-37M2 Kinzhal hypersonic aero-ballistic missile (product 9-A-7660) to strike ground targets with a target hit at a distance of more than 2000 km.

The strike fighter installed advanced equipment including an automatic control system for launching the missile, which led to a minimum crew workload.

The first flight on the MiG-31K prototype with the “Kinzhal” complex took place in 2018, in total, 10 aircraft have been converted so far (2022). It is currently in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces. All aircraft are included in the 21st mixed division of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
