MIG-29SMT (9-17)

The MiG-29SMT is a singleseat supersonic multirole fighter, essentially, a MiG-29 upgrade featuring a novel avionics suite and increased fuel capacity.

The MiG-29SMT prototype first flew on 22 April 1998. In April 2000, the prototype with side number 917 commenced its flight trials, with the prototype embodying the whole set of avionics improvements. 

The MiG-29s with Russian Air Force combat units are to be upgraded into the MiG-29SMT variant.
