A single-seat twin-engine supersonic multipurpose fighter, an upgraded version of the MiG-29 fighter "izdelie 9-13" with a new set of avionics and other systems that comply with NATO and ICAO standards. The modernization of the fighter was carried out by the Romanian company Aerostar Bacau, the German DASA and the Israeli Elbit System. The first upgraded MiG-29 Sniper made its first flight on May 5, 2000, but the modernization program was canceled in 2001.
The only modernized MiG-29 Sniper fighter is an exhibit of the Romanian National Aviation Museum.
