J-31 Multipurpose fighter

On October 31st, 2012 the J-31, by AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, performed its maiden flight, which lasted for 10 minutes, at the firm's facilities. 

The fighter is in same category along with planes such as MiG-29, MiG-35, F-35 and F-22, with its maximum weight around 24-25 tn. 

Large internal weapons compartment (it was achieved by moving the powerplant to the tail of the plane).

Powerplant WS-13

The J-31 will possibly carry the WS-13 powerplant (a clone of the russian RD-33/93 by Klimov). According thought to Chinese officials statements, it has many modifications and expanded service life compared to RD-33/93.

The powerplant WS-13 has a 4 stage compressor with variable step blade in the first three stages, annular combustion chamber and a two-stage turbine with non-movable mono-crystal blade. It's equipped with digital control system.
