2S38 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun system is intended for destruction of air targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles, cruising missiles, air-to-surface missiles, battlefield support aircraft, fire support helicopters, etc. The anti-aircraft system is also capable to engage rocket projectile launched by multiple launch rocket systems, destruct surface targets on groiund and on water.

2S38 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun system has been developed based on well-known mechanized infantry combat vehicle BMP-3.
