Preliminary design (brief description of the work).
SUBJECT: Creation and design of a ekranoplan in the role of amphibious operations, for rapid sea transport of personnel and materials", amphibious operations in the Aegean.
Design & study: Konstantinos Panitsidis
Declaration
The K.P.S. projects have been studied in detail. However, in this presentation, the three-view drawings, as well as the results of the calculations, have undergone a partial, deliberate distortion to discourage the production of counterfeit copies.
A synoptic study of an ekranoplan for the Aegean environment.
The basis for this study is an ekranoplan for amphibian operations, fast transportation of personnel and materials.
It's a 4 engine low wing craft with a T-shaped tail and a special type fuselage, designed to absorb vibrations. It has the capability to get on shore (with a angle of slope of 5-15 degrees) for fast loading and unloading of personnel and vehicles. It also has a reinforced floor so that it can carry heavy equipment. Loading and unloading will be possible from both rear and front segments of the fuselage (like in bigger transport planes).
The internal dimensions of the cabin are: length 16,20 m, width 7,50 m, height 3,55 m. It's able of carrying 4 IFVs with maximum weight per vehicle 18,7 tn with full support. The maximum load is 76 tn. Loading and unloading is done like in bigger crafts: the front door lifts up so that the whole operation is fulfilled a minimum amount of time, while at the back there is a special ramp. The propulsion system is consisted of 4 x 10tn powerplants, positioned just in front of the cockpit.
The ekranoplan is equipped with a powerful radar for an automated flight. There is also a close proximity (collision) radar.
It's defense weaponry consists of a double six-barrel cannon , on top of the fuselage, just behind the cockpit.
This short description doesn't cover the full capabilities of this craft. Perhaps in the future the necessity for such a craft, should be examined by the Greek Armed Forces, for Aegean field of operations.
