The laser guided bomb GBU-16 Paveway II, was mounted on warhead Mk 83 Standard of 453,5 kg (Low-Drag General Purpose).
During the "Desert Storm" operations 219 GBU-16 bombs were used. The majority of the drops were made by US Navy aircrafts A-6E. The version for the navy uses basically the BLU-110 instead of Mk83 kai the guidance is performed through GPS/INS (GBU-48).
Paveway II can be used from a height up to 7.680 m thus achieving its maximum range of 15 km.
In 1998, during the "Desert Fox", the Navy aircrafts (mainly F/A-18s operating from "Enterprise"), used the GBU-16.
