The first ever missile to be equipped with a laser distance finder. Although based in severalparts of the Sidewinder family, it has improved triangular flap controls, shaped like "doubledelta", new powerplant, redesigned war head, sensors and a laser distance finder. The missileAIM-9L Sidewinder entered service in 1976.
