Twin-engine, two-seat jet trainer aircraft of the new generation, developed jointly by the Italian company Aermacchi and the Russian Yakovlev Design Bureau in the early 1990s.
However, the collaboration eventually ended, and the companies continued developing the aircraft independently.
The primary purpose of the M-346 Block 5+ training aircraft is to train pilots by simulating the characteristics of 4th and 5th generation fighters.
Greek trainer aircraft (M-346) are painted in Aegean Grey with blue on the leading edge of the wing (on each wing console).
