AS 332C1 Super Puma Multipurpose helicopter

General purpose helicopters and aircraft

Entered service in 1999. It is a twin engine, medium transporter, mono-rotor multi-role helicopter. It is used for air transport, search and rescue missions as well as combat search and rescue missions. All Super Pumas belong to the 384 Search and Rescue Squadron “Phaethon”, and are based at the airport of Elefsina. The Hellenic Air Force received 10 units.

The helicopter is equipped with a Bendix 1500 V search radar, a Thomson-CSF FLIR system, and has also a projector, a lifting crane, medical equipment and small rafts.

The AS 332C1 Super Puma is powered by two Turbomeca Makila 1A1 turboshaft engines with a maximum power of 1.903 h.p. each one. They have dust protection and are mounted side by side on the fuselage.
