NATO reporting name: SA-8 B Gecko (Hellenic Army General Staff)
Is an independent mobile all-weather combat unit providing acquisition and identification of airborne targets on march and at halt, their automated tracking and engagement from short halt.
Composition
Combat facilities
- combat vehicle (CV) (A33BM3-1
- surface-to-air missile (SAM) 9M33M3
Technical facilities
- transporter / loader 9T217BM2
- maintenance vehicle 9V210M3
- aligment vehicle 9V914
- group SPTA-2 set vehicle 9F372M3-1
- ground-support equipment 9F16M2 for missiles servicing
- automated mobile test station 9V242-1
- electronic training simulator 9F632M
Due to high manoeuvrability and cross-country capability, firepower, high kill probability of targets flying within wide range of speeds and altitudes, the combat vehicle is able to accomplish its missions successfully.

System reconditioning
KUPOL rentiers the following services for combat, technical and auxiliary facilities of the Osa-AKM system and its modifications:
- fulfilment of on-site rehabilitation repair;
- fulfilment of overhaul at manufacturer's site;
- personnel training;
- SPTA supply;
- arrangement of repair facilities and test range.
Due to the rehabilitation repair and overhaul the equipment lifetime is restored. It ensures constant combat readiness and saves expenses.
Osa system repair ensures its further operation within 5-10 years till the next repair
Updating
The updating of early system versions is carried out to improve effectiveness in defeating advanced air threats.
Reliability and life time are improved due to:
- replacement of electronic UHF amplifiers by low-noise solid-state ones;
- embedding of the up-to-date element base.
Combat efficiency is enhanced due to:
- embedding of data receiving-transmitting equipment and navigation facilities into the CV;
- replacement of the standard SAM warhead by an updated one having a fragment made of wolfram-nickel-iron for improvement of engagement;
- improvement of the target and missile tracking accuracy, enhancement of jamming immunity of the target acquisition radar and target tracking radar
Combat training using the system as a target:
- CV "Osa-AKM" can be used as a target training system "Saman-M" intended
for launching guided target missiles while performing training firing tests of medium and short-range air defense systems.
Additional services:
- embedding the air conditioner for improvement of the crew's operation conditions;
use of the test-and-recording equipment for prompt analysis of the combat operation.
Enhancing combat efficiency:
- ADMS reaction time is reduced due to automated target homing process.

Enhancing ADMS jamming immunity and survivability:
- use of the round-the-clock optical electronic system with the automatic tracking of the target by angular coordinates.
Automation of the combat operation is achieved due to:
- replacement of the standard computer by the up-to-date digital computer system;
- replacement of the standard error signal separation system and the pulse-to-pulse cancellation unit
by digital signal processing devices;
- replacement of diode indicators by liquid-crystal displays having up-to-date controls;
- adding of the digital signal processing receiver.
