On July 1, 1999 the contract for the acquisition of four (4) EMB-145H aircraft is signed. On February 12, 2009, the official ceremony of joining the four (4) EMB-145H aircraft in the HAF took place.

SAAB 340AEW&C: One of the two SAAB-340 aircraft of the intermediate solution, joined the force of HAF in 2001 and remained until 2003 (September) where they returned to the Swedish Air Force.

EMB-145H “Erieye” AEW&C comes from the ERJ-145 passenger version, equipped with active phased pulse radar-doppler and emits S (3.1 -3.3 GHz) frequencies from Ericsson Microwave Systems. It flew for the first time on May 22^nd, 1999. The range of the radar in target detection reaches 450 km and the performance of radar against fighter- size targets up to 350 km (and 150 km against cruise missiles).

Technical characteristics of the PS-890 “Erieye” radar

PERFORMANCE: Altitude 0-20 km, frequency band 3,1 - 3,3 GHz. Beam width: 0,7 degrees in aimuth & 0,9 degress in vertical,  sidelobe level 50db, minimum scan speed 30-50 m/s, maximum scan speed >1000 m/s, transmit and receive module (TRM) 192. Weight: Weight radar 900 kg. Dimensions: Lenght 9,75 m, width 0,75 m.
