Light twin-engine cargo-passenger Short Take Off and Landing aircraft (STOL) developed on the basis of the An-14 (mainly to replace the An-2). An-28 can be used to carry up to 17 passengers or 1750 kg of cargo at a range of up to 560 km. The first flight was made in January 1973.
July 7, 1978 serial production of the aircraft was completely transferred to the Polish aircraft factory WSK "PZL Mielec" and in 1984 the prototype An-28 of Polish production first flew into the air.
An-28 (M-28) Multipurpose cargo-passenger aircraft, static exhibition MAKS-2007, operator Avia Region (aircraft made in Poland in 1990). Since 2010, it has been owned by “SiLA” Airlines - Siberian Light Aviation (Magadan).
On July 16, 2021, the An-28 aircraft (Registration RA-28728, MSN 1AJ007-13) belonging to the airline SiLA (Light Siberian Aviation) during the flight Kedrovo and Tomsk, Russia made an emergency landing in the Bakcharsky district of the Tomsk region (the aircraft received significant damage), possibly after a power plant failure.
