The Zlin Z 242L is provided for basic and advanced training in both day and night, VFR and IFR conditions glider towing. The design enabler aerobatic training and exercise.
The Zlin Z 242L aircraft is two-seat, single-engine, low wing cantilever monoplane of all-metal structure with side by side seats, non-retractable, nose-wheel tricycle lading gear. It in powered by a pistons-type Textron Lyconing AEIO-360-A1B6 engine with three-blade, hydraulic pitch control MTV-9-B-C/C-188-18a propeller. The design of the aircraft allows it to fly at overloads of +6 / -3.5 g. The first flight of the prototype was performed on February 14, 1990.
The aircraft is designed in accordance with Airworthiness Standards FAR-23 and has a European EASA certificate valid in the European Union, FAA (USA) certificate, Transport Canada type certificate and POA certificate. Zlin Z 242 delivered to 11 countries.
All Zlin Z 242Ls belong to the 401st Training Squadron, AF FYROM.
