AIM-9 P - is an improved version of the AIM-9J missile, and provides better aerodynamic characteristics (flexibility, maneuverment etc.) and greater range. Entered service in 1978.
AIM-9 P3 - is equipped with an active opticalapproach fuze and also has a smokeless rocket, improved warhead with more power.
The head uses new explosive mixture, is less sensitive to high temperatures and has a longer life. The rudders control equipped with more powerful servo.
AIM-9 P4 - improved version of the AIM-9 P3 which is equipped with a Homing Head like the "L" version.
