A multipurpose coaxial transport helicopter derived from the Ka-27PS and powered by two TV3-117VK or TV3-117VMA 2.200-hp gas turbine engines. The maiden flight was made on 8 October, 1980. 

Series production started at the Kumertau Aircraft Production Association in 1986. The following versions were developed: 
Ka-32S shipborne ice patrol helicopter; Ka-32T transport featuring a lifting capacity of 5 tonnes; Ka-32K "flying crane" ; Ka-32A upgraded transport fitted with two TV3-117VMA engines , its Russian airworthiness certificate was received on 16 July 1993); Ka-32A1 rescue helicopter for rescuing people from highriser fires (its maiden flight was made on 12 January, 1994); Ka-32A2 police patrol helicopter; Ka-32A7 (Ka-327) armed borderguard patrol helicopter; Ka-32A11-the Ka-32A version intended for export to Canada (certified in line with US airworthiness standard FAR-29 in 1997); Ka-32A12- a Ka-32A version certified under the JAR-29 standard in Switzerland in June 1996; etc.
