It's a deeply modernized version of Mi-26. It has a new cockpit with 5 LCD multiple function monitors which allowed the reduction of the crew members from 5 to just 2.
It is equipped with a new digital auto-pilot system, a new navigational system (NAVSTAR/ GLOSNASS), a TCAS, a ground proximity warning system and carries the projector Tranzas TSL-1600 on the right side off its fore section. Besides operating as a simple illuminator, it can also serve as an IR light for use with the night vision binoculars.
The first flight of the Mi-26T2 took place on February 17, 2011.
Mi-26T2 can transport various cargos up to 20,000 kg, on an external hook but also internally.
The military version can carry 82 para-shooters or 60 patients on stretchers.
The helicopter can easily carry out mission as firefighter, airborne refueling, in constructions and other special missions.
