Mission: Destruction of attack aircraft carriers strategic reconnaissance
Chief Designer: N.S. Cherniakov
The aircraft with unique titanium and steel structure. The first aircraft in the world to fly quadruplex redundant 3-axes fly-by-wire system.
Maiden flight made on 22nd of August 1972 with test-pilot V.S. Ilyushin and test-navigator N.A. Alfiorov at the controls. Total 10 flights made. Program cancelled in no connection with technical reasons.
