The twin-engine piston aircraft was intended as a patrol, long-range naval reconnaissance aircraft, destroyer bomber, as well as a how transport and air-mission landing. Designed in OKB Beriev, in the period 1944 to 1945. The power plant consists of two ASh-73PDs (without turbochargers) with a take-off power of 2,400 hp each. with four-blade automatic feathering propellers V-3BA-5 with electric control, 5.05 m in diameter.
The first flight of the Be-6 prototype took place in 1949. A total of 123 units were produced.
